beIN scores big with La Liga for April ratings

beIN SPORTS has announced US network ratings for April 2016, citing international soccer as the key programming that out-delivered rivals.

barcaAccording to Nielsen Media Research, La Liga’s El Clásico match-up, which saw Cristiano Ronaldo snatch a shock late winner for Real Madrid against arch rivals Barcelona, and which aired on both the English and Spanish networks, not only delivered the top two best performing fútbol matches in April, but the match on beIN SPORTS en Español ranked as the top football telecast year-to-date, regardless of language.

Following April ratings, beIN SPORTS en Español now ranks No 2 in total day among Spanish-language cable sports networks year-to-date, beating its competitors — ESPN Deportes, FOX Deportes and NBCUniverso, respectively.

La Liga broadcasts featuring FC Barcelona and Real Madrid on beIN SPORTS saw the most successful April ratings. In addition to El Clásico, FC Barcelona vs. Real Sociedad on 9 April, FC Barcelona vs. Sporting Gijón on 23 April, FC Barcelona vs. Valencia on 17 Apriland Real Madrid vs. Villarreal on 20 April were the top matches.
