Spain’ second beIN Media channel, beIN La Liga, is looking for an OTT outlet after arriving on a pay-TV basis without launching on over-the-top (OTT) services.
The intention is for the channel to be available via streaming, probably before the regular football season kicks off in August.
The network came into life following the acquisition of the largest pay-TV rights package of La Liga, will air eight football matches per week - always including one from FC Barcelona or Real Madrid and one El Clásico – as well as almost the entire competition of the Copa del Rey.
Confirmed through beIN Sports’ Twitter profile in Spain, the recently launched La Liga channel will be also available over-the-top, meeting a demand of many subscribers, which were used to watching beIN Sports online.
While the Qatar-based media group readies the OTT launch together with Mediapro, the channel has started with pay-TV operators, covering the pre-season games of some La Liga’s football teams.
