Celestial Tiger Entertainment has launched cHK, a new general entertainment channel offering Hong Kong content, on SingTel mio TV in Singapore.
cHK will show the latest blockbusters, celebrity-driven infotainment, lifestyle shows, cutting-edge late night programmes and dramas (never before aired in Singapore) all in HD. It will be shown in Mandarin but viewers will have the option to watch the channel in the original Cantonese audio track on cHK On Demand. The linear channel will launch on mio TV on 18 October, and the on-demand channel the day after.
Todd Miller, CEO of Celestial Tiger Entertainment, said: “We are excited to partner with SingTel mio TV to bring their customers a new choice in Hong Kong entertainment. Hong Kong is known for its exciting movies, television programmes, food, fashion and nightlife. With cHK, we are packaging all this excitement into one contemporary, celebrity-powered channel, in high definition.
“SingTel mio TV is an ideal home for cHK. We look forward to entertaining mio TV's growing subscriber base with a unique blend of Hong Kong entertainment, never before aired in Singapore.”
Goh Seow Eng, managing director, TV, SingTel, added: “We are delighted to be the first in Singapore to launch this channel, a welcome new addition to mio TV’s Asian content suite, which already features a stellar line-up of channels.
“We launched cHK in response to customer requests, as many have indicated their interest in quality content from Hong Kong. Our self-packaged Jia Le channel, which also screens content in its original dialect, is consistently one of our most watched channels and we believe that cHK will quickly become just as popular.”
