Lagardère Entertainment is to leave the animation sector and is about to sell its shares in Génao Productions to current managers Sandrine Nguyen and Boris Hertzog.
Génao Productions’ current activities, which will exclude the catalogue of previous series, will be sold to the company's executives who will rename the structure OuiDo Productions. The group now plans to focus on entertainment and drama shows because it considers animation as being slow to produce and generate margin.
Génao, which also develops youth entertainment and drama projects, is currently producing five animated series: Les Légendaires for TF1, Mini Loup for France 5, Alvinnnn!!! And the Chipmunks for M6, Xiaolin Chronicles for Gulli, Canal j and Disney XD US.
The company has also acquired the adaptation rights to Sonic The Hedgehog, held by Sega, in order to produce a new CGI series. Sonic Boom will be produced for Canal j and Gulli in France and Cartoon Network in the US.
