Bibel TV (Bible TV) will offer its channel in high definition from 1 December 2013. The German channel has booked a slot within the ORS digital package on Astra (19.2° East) on the frequency 11.243 GHz H (SR 22,000, FEC 5/6) for its HD simulcast.
A caption is already transmitted on the transponder announcing the launch of Bibel TV HD. The Hamburg-based channel will remain available in standard resolution on Astra in parallel.
Early in 2014, Bibel TV will launch a catch-up service by which viewers can watch its programmes in full length on the TV screens after their first airing. To access the free-of-charge service, which will be developed by service provider Nacamar, a connected TV set or set-top box is required compliant with interactive multimedia standard HbbTV and hooked up to the Internet.
At the same time, Bibel TV will launch a mobile version of the catch-up service including a live stream of its TV channel for smartphones and tablets. The catch-up service, dubbed Mediathek, is already available on the channel's website at/.bibeltv.de/mediathek.html.
