Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) has begun production on a pilot for a new non-scripted entertainment format created and produced by Endemol company Initial.
The pilot for The Almost Impossible Gameshow is the latest in a rapidly expanding portfolio of home-grown commissions that aim to build a pipeline of original comedy and entertainment content for VIMN’s international Comedy Central network. The new programme features contestants who must pit themselves against a series of physical challenges, and those who manage to complete what the producers call ‘an almost impossible feat’ will win a cash prize.
The executive producers for The Almost Impossible Gameshow are Steve Regan, vice president of production, VIMN UK, and Lourdes Diaz, vice president, development and production for Comedy Central. At Initial, the show will be produced by Chris Lore and executive produced by Endemol UK’s head of entertainment Shaun Parry.
Jill Offman, managing director of Comedy Central UK and senior vice president, international content, Comedy Central, who is overseeing original content offerings for VIMN’s international network, said: "I am excited to see The Almost Impossible Gameshow move through our international pipeline at Comedy Central.”
Parry added: “We are delighted that this utterly ridiculous new physical game show is being backed by Comedy Central.”
