Movistar TV revs up Formula One channel for Chile, Colombia, Venezuela

Telefónica’s pay-TV platform Movistar TV is adding Mediapro’s Canal F1 Latin America to its channel line-ups in Chile, Colombia and Venezuela.


formula 1The Spanish programmer is continuing to increase distribution during its second season of owning Formula One broadcasting rights in Latin America. Most recently it added Canal F1 to Chile’s VTR and Argentina’s Cablevisión, and Formula One rights exploitation became one of the most profitable business for Mediapro in 2015.

Movistar TV will air the channel’s HD feed, which includes the entire Formula One competition with all the Grand Prix races, 11 of them exclusive for the network, as well as the GP2, GP3 and Porsche Super Cup.

“Through this distribution agreement, Canal F1 Latin America strengthens its growing strategy, aiming to deliver fans a new way to enjoy Formula One programming,” said Javier Villanueva, executive director, Canal F1 Latin America.
