| Sony expands PlayStation Vue online TV coverage to all of US Joseph O'Halloran | 15 March 2016 Sony Network Entertainment International’s cloud-based TV service PlayStation Vue has had its reach expanded from seven major US markets to across the country. RTVN 15 March PlayStation VueThe expansion will now see the service reach an additional 203 TV designated market areas (DMAs), to cover the entire US. Consumers in the new markets will have access to PlayStation Vue’s Slim multichannel plans starting at $29.99 per month, with no hidden fees or long-term contracts. This, says Sony, makes PlayStation Vue the first pay-TV service to be available across the US that offers more than 100 top live sports, movie, and TV channels, with unique features such as simultaneous streaming and an ‘unmatched’ cloud DVR. The over-the-top (OTT) service was launched almost a year ago in New York, Chicago and Philadelphia on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 gaming systems. It offers live and on-demand TV content from the likes of CBS, Disney, the Discovery portfolio, FOX, NBCUniversal, AMC Networks, Scripps Networks Interactive, Viacom and Turner Broadcasting. Most on-demand content is available within 24 hours after airing. CBS live and on-demand programming will be added to select TV markets at a later date. Content from ABC, FOX and NBC will be available only as on-demand content in the Slim multi-channel plans. “Since launching a year ago, our priority with PlayStation Vue has been to secure the best TV content for our audience and make it available to consumers nationwide; today, we’re delivering on that promise,” commented Eric Lempel, senior vice president of marketing and head of PlayStation network Americas at Sony Network Entertainment International. “PlayStation Vue has been an ambitious project from the start, and national expansion demonstrates our ability to innovate in an industry that’s overdue for a reinvented experience.
