Kabel Deutschland grows with Internet and telephony

Germany's largest cable operator Kabel Deutschland has reported strong growth for its Internet and telephony service in Q2 of 2013/14.
84,000 new customers signed up for both services between 1 July and 30 September – more than in Q1 2013/14 (71,000). 2.1 million of Kabel Deutschland's total customer base of 8.4 million now telephone and surf the net through the cable network.
The company, which was recently taken over by Vodafone has invested €129 million in Q2 2013/14 into the upgrading of its cable network, its products and customer acquisition. In the same quarter of the previous year, this figure amounted to €115 million.
Out of Kabel Deutschland's total number of 15.2 million connectable households, 13.9 million (91.4%) have been upgraded for Internet and telephone access by 30 September. 90% of these are able to use the high speed Internet service offering a data rate of up to 100Mbit/s.
