Orange-owned Dailymotion has announced via social networks the launch in November of Canal+ Canada, a SVOD Web offer lining up series, films, documentaries and entertainment shows.
"The Best of Canal+" will be available to Canadian French-speaking webnauts through an unlimited pass costing $7.99.
Canal+'s non-encrypted slots will also be accessible free of charge and make free screening possible for entertainment programmes such as Le Grand Journal and Les Guignols de l'info.
Canadian viewers will also be able to buy European movies à la carte for $2.99 per view.
MD Martin Rogard and Canal+ international projects director Jean-Marc Juramie kicked off the new initiative on Tuesday 15 October in Montréal at the Festival du Nouveau Cinéma.
While the French market still wonders when Netflix will begin operation in France, the French pay-TV channel is opening its first segment for the web streaming of series and movies on a partner platform.
In Canada, where Netflix has made a significant breakthrough, Canal+ mainly targets the French-speaking audience.
