Spanish production company Boomerang TV is reinforcing its position in the Italian market by premiering the series The Avatars on Disney Channel Italy. The series is a co-production with Portocabo, Fly Distribuzione and Brave Films.
The Avatars targets the international market - it has already been recorded in English and with American actors - although it was produced in Madrid with a Spanish crew headed by Portocabo's managing director Fosco Blanco. The series tells the story of a group of teenagers who want to be rock stars but are too young.
Boomerang TV jumped in to the Italian market in 2011, since which time it has grown unstoppably, launching new formats and distributing international productions.
Fly Distribuzione, one of the partners of Boomerang in Italy, was created in 2007 and specialises in the distribution and production of television content. Brave Films is the company's youth division, which has experience producing sitcoms in Italy and the US.
Portocabo, a company from Galicia which focuses on the production of entertainment and fiction, also participated in The Avatars project. Portocabo was launched in 2009 and has quickly made a name for itself in Spain's audiovisual industry.
