The Swiss national football team could be a dark horse at the 2016 European football Championships, and domestic fans who are customers of Swisscom TV will now be able to watch individual games in Ultra HD.
Available immediately, Swisscom TV’s new box will not only deliver 4KTV on the SRF zwei channel but also supports high dynamic range (HDR). It also comes equipped with a new remote control that has a built-in microphone for voice-activated searching. Search terms may be film or programme titles, actors, sports clubs or other keywords. The voice-activated search function supports German, all Swiss German dialects and French. Italian will be added by the end of 2016.
To coincide with the launch of the new box, Swisscom is also offering a selection of Ultra HD programmes (films and documentaries) for rent. The content roster will be expanded on an ongoing basis and the first live Ultra HD TV channels are scheduled to become available from the end of May. Customers will also soon be able to stream YouTube content in Ultra HD using the box. From the 2016/2017 season onwards, Swisscom will team up with Teleclub to broadcast two games in the Raiffeisen Super League in Ultra HD quality every week
