Belgian cable provider Telenet has enhanced its mobile coverage of sporting events by releasing a new multisport app and complementary desktop website.
Made possible as a result of a double alliance with digital sports market technology firm deltatre and tech giant Microsoft, the multiplatform solution comprises what is the group’s first-ever sport-specific app for Android and iOS.
The offering will complement Telenet’s sport broadcast coverage of all disciplines — including football, hockey, cyclocross, volleyball, golf and Formula 1 — across nine 24/7 channels throughout the year.
In the project, deltatre provided the design, technology and delivery of both the app and website, which will act as a pivotal hub to immerse and connect Telenet’s audiences with exclusive access to live content, editorial highlights, in-depth stats and analysis, interactive social media commentary and other customisable options. deltatre’s Diva sports video-player sports video-player and Forge sports content management system are using delivering immersive digital sports stories.
Microsoft is playing a core role in the project, combines its Microsoft Azure business cloud platform with deltatre’s video and data delivery capabilities. This is intended to help Telenet bring top-quality sporting events coverage to fans across multiple platforms and devices.
Commenting on the nature of the project, Telenet CEO John Porter said: “This is a new, exciting step for Telenet, and we look forward to seeing in how many innovative ways the solution delivered in co-operation with Microsoft and deltatre will allow us to bring the best sports entertainment to our customers".
