Comcast is adding baseball-related interactive features to its X1 pay-TV platform, for analysing pitcher-hitter and team-to-team matchups, tracking fantasy points and crunching stat numbers.
The Baseball Extras capability is available before, during and after live Major League Baseball games, on the Xfinity Sports App for X1.
The No. 1 US cable MSO plans to add functionality for other sports, including NFL and NCAA football games, NASCAR races, pro and college basketball, NHL hockey and professional soccer from several leagues, including Major League Soccer, the English Premier League and some Spanish leagues.
The Baseball Extras app will also offer a full post-game analysis.
Comcast previously took sports extras for a trial run with features around some of the NFL’s post-season games, including the Super Bowl. It has also been steadily adding value to the platform, like the ability to live-stream personal video to the TV.
