Mediapro wins Spanish “football war”
Spain’s Mediapro has claimed victory in what has been termed its “football war” with Prisa.
In a statement, it says that the Supreme Court has declared void breaches of contracts signed in 2006 for which Prisa was seeking more than €320 million from Mediapro.
These led to a so-called “football war” that erupted in August 2007.
Following an initial judgment in 2010, Mediapro was ordered to pay €105 million and present guarantees of €220 million.
Mediapro appealed successfully against this judgment and will now only be required to pay Prisa €32 million for the 2006-7 season.
