International drives Discovery growth
Discovery saw a 14% year-on-year increase in revenues in the third quarter, helped in large part by the performance of its International Networks division.
The latter posted a figure of $818 million for the three months ending September 30, up 32% on a year earlier, while US Networks, at $724 million, were 1% lower.
Adjusted OIBDA for International Networks was up 25% to $278 million, while for US Networks it was unchanged at $425 million.
In the International Networks division, distribution revenues were up 34% and advertising revenues 20%.
Excluding Eurosport and foreign currency fluctuations, total revenues were up by 10%.
Ad revenues, excluding Eurosport, were up 12% in local currency terms, while distribution revenues, excluding Eurosport, grew 8% in local currency terms.
Excluding Eurosport and foreign currency fluctuations, adjusted OIBDA was up by 16%.
