From 21 October, Indian channel Star Pravah will broadcast two big budget productions, Star Plus' Mahabharat and Life OK's Devon Ke Dev...Mahadev, dubbed in Marathi.
"The Marathi space has been missing this genre and these two shows are the network's prime properties. The whole idea behind spending so much is that the whole network gets to share it," said Jayesh Patil, programming head, Star Pravah.
"We are spending a lot on dubbing to establish them. Once the market is open for mythology, we can shell out more," he told Indiantelevision.com.
Mahadev has already been transmitted on the Star channels serving Kannada, Oriya, Malayalam and Tamil audiences.
The Marathi versions of the lavish entertainment shows will be broadcast between 6pm and 7pm on Star Pravah, in a specially created mythology slot called Mahaparv.
