Dori Media Group has sold its distribution format Magic Malabi Express to FOX as a pilot production.
The road trip comedy format is distributed worldwide by DMG. The format is based on a successful book by Miki Geva, and was originally produced by Udi Segal and Sumayoko for Channel 10 Israel. The pilot being prepared for FOX will be produced by Shawn Levy and Marty Adelstein through 21 Laps.
The deal follows the sale of popular comedy Little Mom to CBS, with Warner Bros. Entertainment responsible for producing a pilot with the assistance of Greg Berlanti and Rob Bergins. The original series was produced by Yoav Gross Productions for Channel 10 Israel and has proved to be very popular, with a second season currently in production. That sale marked DMG’s first entre to the United States.
“We are delighted that the Magic Malabi Express format is also entering the U.S. market,” said Nadav Palti, president and CEO of DMG. “The comedy has proved very popular on Channel 10 Israel, and it can be tailored for any market. The quality of Dori Media’s catalogue is helping us gain significant momentum in the U.S. market.”
DMG said that it is also in advanced talks that would bring the daily crime drama New York to U.S. screens. New York was originally produced by Dori Media Darset, and has been aired on Israel’s YES channel, where it became the most watched drama of all time for the network.
