Canal Once Mexico announced at MIPCOM that it has signed on to air 20 episodes of the disability-focused series, Attitude.
Attitude is a documentary series from UK distributor Scorpion TV that reflects the fact that 10% of the world’s population is disabled. The series strives to be uplifting and enlightening as it travels the globe to hear stories and achievements. It shows that people with disabilities are movers and shakers, elite athletes, entrepreneurs and make a vital contribution to society.
“We’re delighted to have completed our first deal with Once,” said Juan Solera, sales executive of Scorpion TV. “Attitude is a long-running series that shows the incredible things people with disabilities are doing around the world. Since the Paralympics in London disabled people have been seen in a new light and the demand for this type of content from broadcasters is growing fast.”
For instance, the show highlights that Grace McIntyre has a severe stutter except when she sings; that there is a thriving disabled art scene around the world; and one episode showcases the issues in deciding to have a baby despite being paraplegic.
“For Canal Once, it is crucial to include content that shows how disability doesn´t make people different, not only in UK but all around the world,” said Enriqueta Cabrera, general director of Canal Once. “And Attitude is a social content series that can be taken as an inspiration for everybody. With this kind of content, Scorpion TV has become an interesting distributor for us.”
