Satellite TV network Al Jazeera has opted for TVUPack to deliver live high definition (HD) video over 3G and 4G mobile networks when newsgathering across the Middle East and North Africa.
"After a thorough evaluation of other products, we determined that the TVUPack delivers superior performance and resiliency in crowded areas where cellular network congestion may impact the ability to send a stable picture," said Mohammad Al Sharaan, head of newsgathering and operations, Al Jazeera.
"We use TVUPack on a daily basis to deliver the important news that Al Jazeera viewers have come to expect."
The solution provided for the Qatar-based news broadcaster incorporates a dual encoder, which allows the simultaneous recording and transmission of HD video. In addition, TVU Networks claims the simple one button operation allows camera operators to focus on capturing the shot rather than configuring the transmission in the field.
Dubai-based United Broadcast & Media Solutions (UBS), a TVU Networks reseller, provided on-location implementation of the electronic newsgathering (ENG) products for Al Jazeera.
