From Russia with archive and storage for SGL

Content archive and storage management software provider Software Generation Ltd (SGL) has made a significant win in Russia with broadcaster VGTRK.
The deployment comes as part of workflow integration between Avid's Interplay media production and media asset management (MAM) system and SGL's FlashNet archive. Prior to installing SGL FlashNet, VGTRK used a manual process based around tape and data workflows.
With its new information management infrastructure, VGTRK will be able to take advantage of an end-to-end tapeless workflow, tightly integrated with the Avid and SGL FlashNet technology. The broadcaster is now able to send material directly to the SGL archive using Avid production tools, or to define automatic rules in the Avid Interplay system requesting material to be archived without any further interaction.
Furthermore, VGTRK can also restore material directly using the Avid production tools or partially restore content such as short ten or 20-second clips from any SGL archived material. Other claimed benefits include faster access to archives, simplified search functionality within the archive and off-load on-line storage.
