Communication Partner SRL is tapping Zhone Technologies for gear to build five fibre-to-the-x (FTTx) networks capable of supporting IPTV and triple-play services, in the Argentinean provinces of Buenos Aires, Córdoba and Neuquén.
Zhone's MXK GPON system will provide high-speed fibre access to subscribers of four different telephone cooperatives and one housing development. The products selected are the MXK 819 and 319, 2424 and 2426 ONTs series for providing services over any FTTx architecture.
"Zhone's MXK and ONT solutions are the perfect fit for the independent telephone cooperative market in Argentina," says Fernando Yubero, general manager of Communication Partner SRL. "The flexibility of mixing xDSL technologies with GPON or active Ethernet was a key factor in choosing the MXK for these deployments. The large variety of indoor and outdoor ONTs available from Zhone enables us to offer an efficient and cost-effective way to deploy fiber based solutions for a variety of customers including telephone companies and residential developments."
The number of Zhone MXK platform deployments has more than doubled since Q2 2011, expanding from approximately 1,500 systems to more than 3,650, generating a total subscriber capacity of 27 million.
The MXK is the industry's first terabit access concentrator and provides non-blocking capacity of up to 3,600 100 Mbps GPON subscribers or 360 1G Active Ethernet subscribers.
