IBC 2016: English Football League kicks off OTT expansion with NeuLion Editor

It may lack both the cash and the cachet of the Premier League, but English football’s second tier is defined by upward mobility and as such is set to expand its streaming video offer.
EFL RTVN 7 SepThe English Football League (EFL) has kicked off the 2016/17 season with a new corporate and competition re-branding, including a new visual identity for the 72 teams which are in three leagues of 24, with the top three of EFL 1 reaching the promised land of the EPL.
As part of its expansion, NeuLion was chosen to power the EFL’s digital experience, including the streaming, merchandising and payment services for all 72 club teams. Commented EFL chief executive Shaun Harvey: “In NeuLion we have the world's leading digital company with whom we can form a productive partnership to drive additional value for our clubs and produce a series of digital products we can all be proud of.”
For its part, NeuLion — which acquired the assets of Saffron Digital in June 2016 — said that the combination of new technology, added workforce in London and extensive experience with long-term customers and new customers, has perfectly positioned it in Europe to take full advantage of the accelerating adoption of live and on-demand streaming as it continues to grow worldwide.
