Middle East pay-TV operator OSN has acquired the premiere broadcast rights for the Arabic versions of Sony Pictures Television’s telenovela Betty La Fea and sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond.
The 90 episode drama Betty La Fea will be called Hebal Regal El Ghorab (Crow’s Foot) in Arabic, and will air from January 2014. SPT Arabia, which has premises in Dubai, Cairo and Beirut, has developed the TV show in Arabic, based on the original RCN format.
“SPT Arabia is leading the way in adapting international series for Arab audiences. Hebal Regal El Ghorab is our latest local production of an iconic global series, bringing our Arabic scripted catalogue to well over 150 hours,” said Ziad Kebbi, president, SPT Arabia.
In addition, SPT Arabia has reversioned Everybody Loves Raymond, or El bab x el bab. OSN has acquired the exclusive premiere window for the third series of the show, as well as licensing the first two seasons of the Arabic version of the US sitcom.
